Guest pitch
Thomas and Rachel Peach were both at Corpus Christi College, Cambridge in the early 1990s. Tom has been critical in getting CAMentrepreneurs going in Sydney.
The origin story is: it was 10pm at night, Rachel was laying out pieces of paper, cross referencing the schema of work for year 12 biology, and creating content for tomorrow’s lesson. Thomas looked at it and thought, ‘there must be a better way.’
We’ve now created a basic engine to create high quality lesson plans which is free to use, the business opportunity is to take these lesson plans, universalise them, and create the links to all of the required outputs. Whilst AI is the heart of the business, it’s vitally important that quality and consistency of outputs is maintained.
For example in a simple enzyme introductory lesson the class would need to be designed for pupils with bespoke needs, from a different coloured paper and font set for a pupil with dyslexia to a different practical demonstration for a pupil with ADHD.
We’re aiming to remove the problem of grunt work, freeing up over 15 hours a week for a full time teacher, and providing access to a community of practice and quality experience. This will benefit the teacher by saving time, the students by improving lessons, and the profession by reducing stress and thereby reducing teacher turnover.
We’re engaging at the school level, in most markets the school has autonomy to add tools to improve practice, from on-line quiz engines to lesson plan databases. These add-ins are all part of our product roadmap.
Our ask is to reach out to us if you’re an angel investor in the ed-tech space and are interested in a by teachers / for teachers startup at the seed investment phase.”
